Patriarchy,Terrorism & Mammon

I'm still in Fruita, Colorado, caring for my aging parents. It is heart-breaking, watching their bodies and minds fade. It's a time of grieving. But there is also a blessed time of intimacy with my parents, and there is something intensely rewarding about this, doing a proper good bye. The only worthy reward is the reward in doing.

I continue to have many thoughts about slow, prolonged suffering within domestic civilization. I might write about it later, as I deal with this lesson presently.

.........................................

Meanwhile, other matters. Here's something I just wrote & posted in facebook:

A militant fighting for a minority is called a terrorist.
A militant fighting for the majority is called a patriot.

Every nation was founded upon terrorism.
Terrorism is the mathematical result of patriotism.

Patriotism and terrorism are the life blood of all monetary economy,
pumping through its arteries and veins.

Patriotism is patriarchy,
pledging allegiance to, bowing to,
the Pater and his Prostitute Mistress Mammon
and their bastard son Terror,
Prince of World Economy.

((Notice the little Terror is disrespected, being a bastard and all.
But know he is Prince, destined to become Pater, Ruler of the Majority,
as Pater's own Pater was once also a disrespected little bastard Terror)).

  1. Yes, I'd love to hear more of your insight in regards to your prolonged suffering in dealing with civilization as I too live with my parents and in addition raising a 19 month old....not month. I'm so ready to go and live with the Kogi indigenous people of my native Colombia!

    1. Hi Daniel Suelo,
I just came across an article about you and your website today & found it very inspirational. I come from Australia and I know the indigenous people here have it hard because the ecosystem they relied on for tens of thousands of years has been raped by the European system that took over since 1788. I wish I believed that I could an indigenous clan and survive off the land but I just don't know that that is possible, not only because plants and animals they relied on have become extinct, but also because of their deep distrust of white people like me (who can blame them?)
I have a psychotic illness that requires medication so I don't know that I could ever go fully without money. I am also a woman. What do women without money do when they menstruate?

    2. Sorry, left out a word. Should say 'that I could join an indigenous clan'...

  4. Hey Suelo,

I just want to say that I think it's great that you are taking care of your parents. I think even though you've had a radical stance on not using money, and now you are somewhat forced to live more in a money context, I think you are still being true to your cause.

You are still free, and it's been your decision to live outside the money system which most likely has made it possible so that you can use your time to look after your parents. Even though Jesus calls us to forsake our parents, he also call us to honor them. It's a bit of a paradox.

I think it a great opportunity you have now to show love and be a witness as to what it means to "work". You are using your time for something valuable, and that, to me, is quite productive, and I'm sure it's teaching you a lot in the way of patience and love.

    Love and blessings always.

  5. Most certainly it's easy for those with "eyes that see" to REALize that "The WHOLE world, not just a portion, IS under the control of the evil one"!

So it is, "Whoever would be a friend of this world is the enemy of The CREATOR".......

Thankfully i have chosen to remain but an "alien and pilgrim while on the earth" for as promised "evil men and seducers have waxed worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived" in the name of the gods of this world and/or religion's way!

And Yes! Atheism is a religion as well for atheists see their version of a god each and every time they view their reflected "image"!

    And i share that which i have "seen(experienced) and heard(received) @ asimpleandspirituallife.blogspot.com

Thankfully Peace IS, in spite of the dis-ease (no-peace) that is of this world and religion's way....... francis

  6. When our eye is clouded with evil (darkness) we see the whole world under the control of the evil one (darkness).

We see evil lurking everywhere, and we look for evil everywhere.

This means, despite what we say, we believe the evil one to be God, sovereign lord; we believe Love ("God is Love") is powerless.

The mind that loves ownership sees only a world of ownership and loves this world and the things in it (money, commerce, greedy corporations, nationalism, raping the environment, exploiting other cultures, self-aggrandizement), even as it claims to not "love the things of this world".

"To the pure, all things are pure."

When we think the evil one is outside our selves, controlling everything, we ourselves are under control of the evil one. When we finally realize that evil is not from outside ourselves, but from our own minds, as Jesus himself taught, the evil one loses control over us and our world.

Many of my atheist friends ironically understand this more than many religious folk. They are closer to the Kingdom (Reality) because they actually are not worshipping their own image mistaking it as God.

To own is to be lord (Like Land Lord). When we believe in ownership, we believe we are god, owners of this world, lovers of this world. And we ourselves, then, are the evil one we see and look for in everybody else.

  8. You are one of the few people I truly admire and respect and probably one of the ONLY really spiritual persons I have seen in my lifetime! And while my lifestyle is so simple and Spartan to most , compared to how you lived for over a decade, it is greedy and excessive! I just wish I had your stamina! Please continue to keep this website active! It was my ONLY source of REAL spirituality!

  9. The mere possession of money or things has no more impact on one than lacking such things. There is no shame or wrongdoing in their ownership rather it is these gifts as are any that determines our worth, each according to what they've been given.

What we do w/such blessings that determines one's heart as is so w/all things. The mere possession of wealth is ultimately no more relevant than the lack there of. A hunger that leads to murder or theft demonstrates our worst just as the need to possess much wealth.

As 2Peter1:16-20 makes clear for the Christian & ironically the
Catholic's Claim of 1st Pope(?) there is always a need for an objective yet authoritative source of reference.

When we deem of ourselves wise, thoughtful, kind & necessary our path requires adherence to that which is far greater than ourselves & far more brilliant... "The Eternal Spirit", perhaps, traveling where it will.

It reminds me of Geronimo between Mexican Empire's massacre of his family until surrender to the US Army & kept in prison until his end.

To succeed in this life while accomplishing the characteristics of kindness, charity, purity, love & sacrifice... trust in something greater than ourselves to guide us & we judge that Spirit based on the characteristics of any such spirits character.

    Blessings...

    1. There is great shame in ownership of wealth in a world where most the population is in poverty. The very fact one would take more than one needs is an indication of deep spiritual poverty and lack of faith.

Your ideas make sense if we ignore the bulk of what Jesus and the disciples and all of the early church leaders unanimously taught and did. Then there's common physics: taking more than you need means poverty for somebody else. Yes, it does have to do with what you do with your wealth. Give it all up, as Jesus taught, as the early church leaders unanimously taught.

It makes no sense to accumulate air in your lungs. Your air must be given up and shared in the totally communal atmosphere or you suffocate.

The wealthy philanthropist thinks he does good, and creates theologies to justify himself. But then there are those bothersome teachings of Jesus that get in the way. Who gives more, the wealthy philanthropist or the widow giving her 2 mites, all she has, knows (Mark 12:44).

  14. Sing it bro! Maybe one day the term "christian" will be understood to unambiguously mean "someone who at least TRIES to follow the specific teachings of Christ" in much the same way that a Buddhist is far more commonly understood to be "someone attempting to follow the Dhammapada".

  15. Very off topic...I've been following your posts for years and only just today did i realize that the blog-title picture of the opened-beak crow is not calling to torrential ocean waves but rather to (wild nature) snowy mountains. Wonder if anyone else believed the same misconception as this coastal human. Hope things with your parents are smooth sailing. Thanks for all your writing (and radio programs!). warmly, from wet california.

  20. Thanks for paying it forward with your great example and blog Daniel! I'm sure your parents paid it forward with you so that you could help us all. My best wishes to you and all your immediate family during this time. Hope to hear from you soon and thanks again for all your ideas, I'm sure they will have a butterfly effect on many people's lives in a positive manner and maybe somewhere down the line inspire change in the majority of society. For me, your example has reinforced what I've been seeking, freedom through detachment.

  24. It is definitely a gift Suelo, to take care of aging parents. I was fortunate to do so for my father who passed 2 years ago as he left this physical realm with his head in my hands. I never imagined something like that could be so beautiful. I wish you peace and love...The Creator is amazing.

  29. Hello Suelo. I'm new to your experience. I have been blessed by learning of your courage.
I admire your for really valuing what is important. " What is essential is invisible to the eye " Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Kudos to you for stepping for your parents needs when was time. And a heartfelt sympathy condolence on the passing of your father.
In exercise of the faith (Hebrews 11:1 ) I started walking 20 years ago I say lift our heads because our Redemption is nearer. (Luke 21:28)
Read the Bible. It was inspired by the Spirit of who was, WHO IS and WHO IS to COME. A Compass to Eternity and beauties "that eye has not seen and ear has not heard neither have entered the heart of man prepared for those who love God". (1 Corinthians 2: 9 and note verse 12 ) that says "Receive the Spirit of God , so that we may know the things FREELY Given To US by GOD".
Time is short. No time to doze or waste. Our Future is at risk and we must decide were we want to spend eternity...

  36. YESsssssssss!!!!!! I absolutely feel the same things. I have been saying the same things!! Why do i have to live in this illusion on credit, this invisible currency which put me into a category that i dont identify myself with. We alsi fou d ourselves homeless this year. I was so content living in a tent at Ceran St. vrain campsite in Boulder, CO. Ive really lived like a gypsy my whole life. I just want an rv so we can always have a home that feels more secure against bears. I want to start a community reach center that is actually a large community of individuals who offer help to other individuals because that is how we should be living. Planting food forests and planting huge enclosed gardens and teach classes on how to commu icate and how to be patient and how to use our skills. How to care for another and help raise children to be caring individuals who care for this world. Love is the answer. I want a community that instills love

  43. Hi Daniel, just discovered your posts. Although not religiously motivated your thoughts and idealogies are similar to mine. Money is meaningless, $5000000 may as well be $5 in the scheme of things. The problem is how to take that first initial step whilst living in a world that is all we have ever known. I am taking little steps, kindness and the gift of giving without reward is my first life goal. Thank you and hope more people can see what you see.

  44. Today I thank God, in finding a sandwich and box of KFC in the trash, given having no job. And the chicken was good. I wonder Dan, have you heard of The Zeigeist movement? I have been studying this money less idea, and it apparently is not a new idea, or even a modern idea. You know what is the oldest in the world concerning culture, is not the bible, but China. The money less idea comes from a communal idea, that a persons work all day earns him or her their food. Even Chairman Mao did this in his great leap forward, where people grew food for the State, and the amount of food said raised in weight was lied about. The government thought it had lots of food, when in fact it did not, and people began to starve. It is said over 38 million people died from Maos Cultural Revolution, per Chinese facts. What I see in the Bible, The Lord did not bless the rich people. He blessed the poor. If you get a blessing you are not poor any longer. I think Being Rich is bad, and being poor is bad. So if I can grow my own good, God will bless me with a harvest. I can sell the food or trade for other things such as shoes, and clothes, or whatever, always mindful not to be rich. And this is not easy, because how do I think of myself on being able to live without money? Is it I am so rich I don't need money? or asking God to keep blessing me, instead of taking care of myself. I often wonder am I burden to God, because he is really a busy God, isn't he. And our mission is to help people, so how to do that by not dragging them into poverty? These are questions I ask myself. I left the U.S. because I am searching for Integrity. The government does some pretty horrible things. The 911 inside termite job is case in point. How can I support a lying murder government ? Pay taxes to criminals, in knowing they are makes me complicit. I cannot. There fore to love truth is to suffer. Does it make me happy ? no. but if I decided to be a money person, I would still be unhappy. This is the conundrum. All I know is if I cannot help the Lord, without thinking I am asking a handout, then what good is living? And I am left scouring the Bible dog chasing tail comforts of Job, to Ecclesiastus that life is like chasing the wind.
